A native of Apopka, I have personally witnessed the growth and changes in District 38. The following issues will be important for our community in the 2008 legislative session.
-
Increase access to quality, affordable insurance and health care.
-
Ensure growth does not come at the cost of overcrowded schools and inadequate roadways.
-
Protect the Wekiva River Basin and our quality of life.
-
Complete construction of the John Land-Apopka Expressway and the Wekiva Parkway.
-
Eliminate insurance surcharges on District 38 homeowners' policies for the benefit of wealthy coastal properties.
-
Complete research to determine whether the current septic systems are contributing to the nitrate runoff into the aquifer before requiring system replacements.
-
Continute to encourage increased student participation in technical training programs at the high school level, thus promoting access to higher-paying jobs for non-college-bound students.
-
Protect our local water bodies, especially through new approaches to preventing the problems caused by residential fertilizers and other pollutants.
